The work is aimed at renovating the railway superstructure, installing new rolling stock and signaling and control systems, upgrading stations, bus stops, bridges and tunnels, as well as providing seven daily runs in each direction.
A new maintenance shop will also be built, the drainage system and the slopes will be protected and strengthened.
The statement states that the project will be awarded through the modality of a public-private association, financed for 30 years, to provide transport services to the population in accordance with international quality standards.
And that, in order to guarantee the preservation of existing social rates, their establishment will be taken over by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
“Railway Huancayo Huancavelica It will become an engine for the socio-economic development of the regions of Junin and Huancavelica, as it will increase the tourism and agricultural potential of the area and facilitate the access of the population to centers of health, education, labor and trade,” the minister said in a statement.
