Former federal prosecutor said House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calypse) and several other lawmakers may have committed specific crimes in a possible attempt to cover up Donald Trump’s Jan. 6 conspiracy to defeat him in an election.
“It’s called committing a crime,” Glenn Kirchner, who spent 24 years as an attorney in the U.S. district attorney’s office, explained on his YouTube channel.
The law states that a person who is aware of a crime that is “known to a U.S. court” but does not disclose information about it could face up to three years in prison.
Kirchner noted that a federal judge ruled in March that it was “more likely” that Trump would “cruelly try to prevent” a vote in congress on Jan. 6.
Consequently, the Jan. 6 potential crimes were a “judicial recognition” – and it is important now that McCarthy and four other Trump -associated lawmakers were summoned by a congressional committee on Jan. 6 to answer the questions about their knowledge and involvement.
If they refuse to perform, Kirchner said, “it seems like a crime to me.”
He added: “It also looks like an accessory after the fact. They also appear to be criminal accomplices of Donald Trump in his conspiracy to deceive the United States or commit a crime. ”
“You have to pick a lot of crime,” he concludes.
