Rains in the north of the country led to the suspension of economic activity and affected hundreds entrepreneurs who sees his danger credit history being unable to repay loans made to grow their business.
Faced with this challenge, Jorge Delgado, president of the Association of Microfinance Institutions (ASOMIF), said they are coordinating with the Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS) to find the best alternative for restructuring these loans.
“We’re trying to talk to Department of Banking, Insurance and AFP and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, because there should be prudential measures, because it will affect the income of entrepreneurs, and they will not be able to pay,” the representative of the RPP Noticias Economy for All program referred.
Delgado recalled that in 2017, when El Niño Costero affected north Peru, there were debt restructurings and freezes, measures that could possibly be replicated this time around and they will be in charge of figuring it out this week.
“This week we will see something more clear and visible.Because there are already standards, as in 2017, when it was refinanced,” he said.
Delay increased in February
Jorge Delgado emphasized that this month they will see an increase in offenses in the south due to social conflicts registered in Puno, Cusco and Arequipa, as well as in the north, where entrepreneurs have suffered from rainy.
