Concerts in Peru provided 0.73% of the growth of the national economy.

2022 is booming concerts and it helped support the national economy. Activities of this type are included in the “other services” sector and according to the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (ERI), contributed 0.73% GDP last year.

“In the concert category especially, we had an extremely important growth in 2019 and a sharp drop in 2020 and 2021. From about 75 million soles in 2019, we dropped to 42 the next year, in 2021 we collected 46, and in 2022 we closed with 84,800,000 soles,” explained Ruben Ugarteche, CEO of Apdayc.

How much was collected from the sale of drinks and food?

In only 13 concerts, 8 artists were verified by the National Administration of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) when selling products, 6 and a half million salts were collected, 70% of which accounted for the sale of drinks; In addition, of the total, at least one million went to pay taxes.

Concerts under threat due to lack of venues

The “other services” sector, which includes entertainment, has grown thanks to the presence of foreign artists such as Daddy Yankee and Bad Bunny in 2022, Inea said. So far in 2023, Peru has hosted Joaquín Sabina, Romeo Santos or bands like Paramore, but Alejandro Sanz has also been confirmed in April and The Weekend in October.
