EU imposes sanctions against three private Russian banks

Tinkoff, Alfa-Bank and Rosbank fell under sanctions. Their assets in EU countries will be frozen.

The European Commission has officially published documents on the 10th package of sanctions against Russia and thus implemented it. Under the new restrictions are the largest Russian banks and prominent representatives of the Russian government.

The EU has included three major banks in the new sanctions package – Tinkoff, Alfa Bank And Rosbank. Their assets on the territory of EU countries will be frozen, transactions with them will be prohibited, banks will be disconnected from SWIFT.

Also restrictions are imposed against the company Rosatomflot and media groups Russia today. The sanctions lists also include the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation.

Among the most important individuals, Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova, head of Rossotrudnichestvo Evgeny Primakov, head of the National Medical Chamber of the Russian Federation Leonid Roshal, head of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation Valery Fadeev and others fell under the restrictions in Europe.

In total, 87 individuals and 34 legal entities are included in the new EU sanctions package.

As reported, EU authorities approved the 10th package of sanctions against Russia. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine expects decisive steps from Europe against Rosatom and Russia’s nuclear industry, increasing pressure on the military and banks.
