In the future, oil supplies from Kazakhstan should replace Russian oil for the European Union.

Kazakhstan’s national operator, KazTransOil, has begun receiving oil for its subsequent export to Germany. This was announced by the company’s press service on Thursday, February 23.

“The system of main oil pipelines of KazTransOil JSC began to receive Kazakh oil for transportation to Germany. In accordance with the oil supply schedule approved by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KazTransOil JSC sends in February 20,000 tons of Kazakh oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline to the oil delivery point Adamova Zastava for further delivery to Germany,” the message said.

It is indicated that in December KazTransOil sent an annual application for the transportation in 2023 of 1.2 million tons of oil through the Russian Transneft oil trunk pipeline system for further delivery to Germany. This oil transit will be carried out within the framework of the agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Russia dated June 7, 2002.

Yesterday it became known that Kazakhstan may send the first batch of oil to Germany. In the future, these deliveries should replace Russian oil, which the EU has promised to stop buying as part of sanctions against the Russian Federation.

Recall that in November the EU and Kazakhstan signed a strategic agreement on energy supplies. The joint projects will be developed over the next six months.

Earlier, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed readiness to help the EU overcome the energy deficit.
