In February, Russian gas deliveries through Ukraine increased by 72% compared to the end of January.
Russian Gazprom provides natural gas to Europe in transit through Ukraine in the amount of 42.1 million cubic meters. m per day through the gas measuring station (GIS) Sudzha. This is 4.2% higher than the previous day. Deliveries returned to last year’s numbers, TASS reported on Wednesday, February 22.
“Gazprom provides Russian gas for transit on the territory of Ukraine in the amount confirmed by the Ukrainian side through Sudzha GIS – 42.1 million cubic meters on February 22. The application for Sokhranovka GIS was rejected,” a representative of said the gas monopoly.
It is indicated that in February the supply of Russian gas through Ukraine increased by 72% compared to the end of January.
Earlier in January, Gazprom’s exports to Europe fell to Soviet-era levels due to more attractive gas prices on the spot market. However, since the beginning of February, when spot contract prices began to compare, Gazprom’s European supplies have increased again.
The transit line through Ukraine remains the only route for Russian gas supplies to the countries of Western and Central Europe. Pumping through the Nord Stream has been completely stopped. Gas supplies through Turkish Stream and Blue Stream are intended for Turkey and the countries of Southern and South-Eastern Europe.
Recall that in 2022, Gazprom’s exports to non-CIS countries will fall by half – to 100.9 billion cubic meters of gas. This is an anti-record in the entire history of the company: even in 1990, 110 billion cubic meters were exported.
It was also noted that during the year Russia reduced gas production by 12%. The decline in production and exports is due to the refusal of European countries to buy Russian gas, as well as explosions in the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.
