The Peruvian economy has lost more than S$2.6 billion this year due to social conflictsThis was announced by Minister Alex Contreras.
The head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) claimed that in January the economic effect was SGD 1,820 million, while in February GDP lost SGD 800 million.
Added to this are the results of the end of last year, since in December 2022 economic impact it was S/1000 million.
Although the amount is high, Minister Contreras notes that it will be a small cost.
“If you look at it from an economic point of view, this is a small price to pay, but if we consider the impact it had on regions These are corresponding costs, and that is why we are working on a strategy to revive the economy,” he said.
The Minister pointed out that there are three consequences of the conflict in the economy. One of them is the direct impact on GDP, which implies a reduction in production, a reduction in consumption, a reduction in investments and less employment.
He also pointed out that there is an impact on prices and that now “buying in the south is more expensive.”
Finally, Contreras added that the third negative impact is related to expectations investors.
