He noted that by the beginning of October 2022, the company had accumulated 14.5 billion cubic meters. m of gas.
“That is enough to work according to standard situations. Yes, we realize that if there is a force majeure, then we will need to buy more gas. Unfortunately, this situation worked,” Chernyshev specified.
In the end, according to him, they found gas and money for it.
“In particular, we bought more than 400 million cubic meters on the most favorable terms from a Norwegian company and almost 130 million cubic meters of gas from partners from Germany. But, of course, this is not a complete list of our purchases,” the head of Naftogaz.
He also paid attention to the consistent assistance of the G7 countries and the Norwegian government in financing the required amount of gas.
Chernyshev assured that Ukraine will have enough gas for this heating season. In addition, now the team Naftogaz working on a strategic plan for the passage of the heating season 2023/2024.
“My goal is for Ukrainians to forget the term ‘preparation for the heating season’ altogether. In civilized countries, it happens on standby. Ordinary citizens do not feel the preparation process in any way, but only using the resource. We have one marathon every year,” he explained.
Recall that in early December last year, Chernyshev said that during the heating season, Ukraine needs more than $4 billion for additional purchases of natural gas.
