In December last year, the amount of bank deposits of Ukrainian citizens increased by UAH 58.4 billion.
The total amount of deposits of individuals in banks participating in the Deposit Guarantee Fund (DGF) on January 1 reached UAH 1.05 trillion. The press service of the Fund reported this on Monday, February 13.
It was noted that at the same time, in December 2022, this number increased by UAH 58.4 billion.
Of the total deposits of individuals at the beginning of January, deposits in national currency amounted to UAH 654 billion (+42.2 billion UAH in December), in foreign currency – UAH 397.5 billion (+16.2 billion UAH).
The share of individual entrepreneurs in the structure of depositors reached 3%, and the value of their deposits reached UAH 118.8 billion (11.3% of the total value of deposits).
According to Deputy Managing Director of the Fund Olga Bilay, when compared to the indicator on January 1, 2022 (UAH 675.6 billion), the annual increase reached UAH 375.9 billion or 55.6%.
“There are several factors that led to this growth. First, Oschadbank became a member of the Fund and it added UAH 129.7 billion to our financial statements. ).
But the most important thing is that we recorded a real increase in the balances of funds in the accounts of individuals and individual entrepreneurs (+150.7 billion UAH). At the same time, real growth in hryvnia deposits reached UAH 139.2 billion, and in foreign currency – UAH 11.5 billion,” he explained.
The dynamics of the increase in the value of deposits is also influenced by social payments to the population (in particular, the provision of financial assistance from the state and international organizations) and payments to military personnel.
As of January 1, 2022, there are 67 banks on the register of Guarantee Fund participants.
Recall that in April last year, Ukraine introduced a 100% guarantee of deposits for wartime.
