The Ministry of Digital Development wants to accelerate the development of the electronic hryvnia and launch a “pilot” this year.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation wants to speed up the development of the electronic Hryvnia and launch a pilot project this year. Mikhail Fedorov, head of the Ministry of Digital Development, spoke about this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
“It is developing, recently I was shown an electronic hryvnia based on the Stellar product. They developed the first transactions on the blockchain, how you can track the movement of these funds,” said the minister.
According to Fedorov, he sent a letter to the National Bank saying that it is necessary to speed up the development of the electronic hryvnia.
Under the law, in 2024, the NBU should launch pilots, but the Ministry of Digital Development wants to launch it this year. “Therefore, communication is carried out with the National Bank and business, it will also happen irrevocably,” concluded the minister.
Recall that on September 8, 2021, the Verkhovna Rada authorized the cryptocurrency market and the digital hryvnia.
In November last year, the National Bank presented a draft concept of the digital hryvnia, designed to perform all the functions of money and complement the cash and non-cash forms of the hryvnia here.
