In particular, in December, the profit of banks reached UAH 5.3 billion, which is 40.9% less than a month earlier (UAH 8.9 billion). Incomes in December increased by 11%, while expenses – by 9.9%.
At the same time, revenues for the whole of 2022 increased by 30.5% compared to last year, to UAH 357.488 billion. At the same time, fee and commission income for the year decreased by 8.2% to UAH 85.568 billion.
At the same time, the result from revaluation and from purchase and sale transactions was positive and amounted to UAH 43.525 billion, while for the same period last year it was negative and amounted to UAH 77 million.
At the same time, the costs of the banking system in 2022 increased 1.7 times compared to this indicator in 2021 – up to UAH 332.673 billion, including contributions to reserves – 35 times, up to UAH 118.809 billion. At the same time, fee and commission expenses increased by 0.7% to UAH 35.421 billion,
“The sector’s return on equity was 10.9% compared to 35.1% a year earlier,” the NBU stressed.
The rating in terms of profitability is led by the state-owned PrivatBank, which earned UAH 30.2 billion. Next are the banks of foreign banking groups – Ukrsibbank (3.5 billion), Raiffeisen Bank (2.8 billion) and Citibank (2.4 billion).
According to the NBU, 46 out of 67 banks made a profit of UAH 45.560 billion, while 21 banks showed a loss of UAH 20.844 billion.
The biggest loss was presented by Sens Bank (formerly Alfa-Bank) – UAH 6.9 billion. Next is the state-owned Ukreximbank (6.8 billion) and Ukrgasbank (2.7 billion hryvnias).
Recall that in 2021, Ukrainian banks received a record profit of UAH 77.530 billion, which is 95.2% more than in 2020 (UAH 39.727 billion).
