In connection with the conflict in the south of the country tourists citizens decide to spend their weekends or holidays in the north of Peru to enjoy carnival festivities and beaches pedestals and Piura.

Let’s remember that locks persevere on the roads leading to Ayacucho, Cusco or Puno. This forced visitors to look for other holiday regions, one of which is Cajamarca.

“Cajamarca is recovering steadily thanks to the coordinated work of public institutions and private unions. The problems faced by the country in the south have slightly diverted tourism towards Cajamarca. There are high hopes for the carnival. The hotel business is already 100% sold out (…). We know from GORE Cajamarca and the Association of Hotels and Restaurants that the hotels are already sold out,” said Eusebio Diaz, President of the Regional Chamber of Tourism of Cajamarca in Peru21.

In Cajamarca alone, hotel occupancy has reached 90% occupancy and could accommodate about 10,000 more tourists than expected, the spokesman said.

The San Martin region is another attraction for tourists.

The Riojan Carnival in the San Martin area is also another tourist destination at this stage. According to the San Martin Regional Chamber of Tourism, the department is 90% full.

“We have international tourism, which is practically zero, but we have a segment of national tourism that continues to come (…). We have cheap hotels, quite cheap ones, and this supports tourism. In some cases, for example in Rioja, all hotels are full on weekends. They are 90% full (employment),” said Ramon Da Cruz, president of the aforementioned union.

In the case of northern Peru, it has been reported that Piura and Tumbes have also increased their national tourist numbers, as seen in airflow and hotel occupancy.
