The United States has reportedly shared information that helped Ukraine Mira and killed Russian generals during the country’s ongoing aggression against the Kremlin.
According to the New York Times, senior U.S. officials said the U.S. provided real-time information to Ukrainians on the battlefield, including the location of Russia’s mobile military headquarters. Ukraine then used this knowledge, as well as its own intelligence, to conduct artillery strikes and strikes to kill Russian officials.
So far, Ukraine claims to have killed about 12 Russian generals during the war. The Times added that not all air strikes were based on US intelligence; Ukraine has its own way of gathering information.
Newspaper sources did not show how the United States acquired its intelligence and did not specify how many generals could have been killed for sharing this information.
This attempt was part of a covert effort to help Ukraine defend itself, and the Biden administration has worked to keep secret the full scope of its support, the Times reported. “The White House fears that any open attempt to share information could provoke Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has warned the U.S. to stop arming Ukraine, saying it could happen.” Unexpected results “for that.”
Western countries continue to punish Russia for aggression. Earlier this week, a senior EU official called on the bloc to ban Russia’s oil imports and announce new sanctions against the country’s largest bank and media.
