“Turkey will soon become a big supermarket for gas trade. In this regard, we will hold the Istanbul Gas Summit on February 14-15. Here, we will bring producers from the Middle East, Caspian countries, Central Asia and buyers from Europe to the same table,” he said. in a speech in Istanbul at the forum Turkey’s Age in Energy.
Donmez noted that over the past 20 years, Turkey has made the necessary investments that will allow it to become a center for natural gas trade. These are transportation and storage facilities, LNG tanks, international pipelines, and a wholesale gas market was created.
“We are also talking to consumers in our region. We signed an agreement with Bulgaria for the supply of about 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas annually until 2035. This is about 30% of the annual consumption of Bulgaria. We are conducting similar negotiations with North Macedonia, Romania and Moldova” said Donmez.
He also said that Turkey has signed an agreement with Oman to import 1.4 billion cubic meters. m of gas annually. This agreement is valid for at least 10 years.
Earlier in January, Turkey completed the construction of a gas pipeline that will supply gas from the Black Sea fields. Deliveries should begin in the first quarter of 2023.
