The president Peruvian Hydrocarbon SocietyFelipe Cantuarias assured that 120 trucks available waiting for blockade to end be able to supply liquefied petroleum gas (LHG) to regions located in the south of the country. In addition, he said that there is an agreement with the Ministry of Energy and Mining to supply regions with additional tankers. Puerto Maldonado D pucallpa.

“120 trucks are waiting for the blockade to be lifted to enter the southern part of our country. Yesterday, in a meeting with the Minister of Energy and Mines, we extended the industry’s commitment to contribute to the immediate supply of LPG. Moreover, given this shortage situation, we have already developed plan B for the supply of the south, which provided for the implementation of cabotage (that is, sea transport) from the port of Callao to the port of Matarani, using La Marina ships to supply the entire south from Matarani,” he said in Focus on Saturdays.

“In order to reassure the entire population of the southern part of our country, as soon as traffic opens, they will immediately enter the cities in a queue for the supply of LPG. And additionally We have made a commitment to the Minister of Energy and Mines and the government to do more.with additional tanks in order to complete the inventory needed to ensure that all the southern regions of our country, as well as Puerto Maldonado and Pucallpa, have access to liquefied gas, which is the main energy of homes,” he added.

“Scarcity problems violate human rights”

On the other hand, he believed that protests and blockades limited the right of citizens to health, creating shortages in different regions.

“Although the right to protest is included in our Constitution, it cannot be associated with violence, let alone violate the right of most Peruvians to freedom of movement, access to health care and education. LPG and energy supply issues violate human rights millions of Peruvians whose health and nutrition are at risk today,” he said.

“Today we see that in Puerto Maldonado, stocks have already run out. In other words, there is no stock, no LPG, because the supply cannot be delivered. The same thing happened in Puno, in Cusco, and we are also seeing gas shortages in Arequipa, Tacna and Moquegua due to the blockade of the Panamericana-Sur highway preventing the transport of LPG trucks,” he added.

Finally, he called on human rights organizations to take action on the issue and promote the unblocking.

“We call for an end to these protests and I think that It’s time to demand from human rights organizationsthat they have played a leading role in demanding the right to protest from law enforcement, that they are demanding the lifting of the blockade to allow free movement and guarantee the health, education and nutrition of millions of Peruvians. We do not understand why it is not currently required that there be humanitarian corridors to allow the delivery of essentials, and that the blockades be lifted, which is a crime, so that the lives of millions of Peruvians are guaranteed,” he concluded. .
