Naftogaz has agreed to reserve the additional amount of gas Ukraine needs to complete the current heating season. This was announced on January 18 by the head of the company Alexei Chernyshev.
He noted that on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, he held constructive meetings with international institutions and leading energy companies.
“We have agreed with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on financing mechanisms for the purchase of additional volumes of gas that Ukraine needs; together with our Western partners – the EBRD, Norway, USA, Germany, France, Canada and UK – on financing the purchase; on the leading oil and gas companies – on reserving the necessary volumes,” he said.
Recall that in early December last year, Chernyshev said that during the heating season, Ukraine needs more than $4 billion for additional purchases of natural gas.
