Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation Nelly Paredes He explained that they had to step up economic support for farmers called fertiabono after the cancellation of the fourth fertilizer purchase process.
Through RPP Noticias, the official recalled that two trials were canceled following reports controlin the third, the contestant withdrew, and in the fourth, there were no conditions for performance of the contract.
Another attempt was not made, as the state of emergency ended, so it was decided to allocate a larger budget for an economic subsidy to producers.
“FROM Minister of Economy We decided that the fastest way to help farmers is to strengthen Fertiabono, a mechanism that has already been put in place to support farmers.”
To this end, the government allocated an additional 350 million soles to provide economic support to farmers. Thus, the official specified, the money already spent by the producers will be compensated.
“In the market fertilizer there are organic and inorganic ones, we have a large number of farmers who have from 0 to 5 hectares, so sometimes many of them do not need urea, others do, so they will buy the fertilizers they need,” he explained.
While the bond issue has been criticized by labor unions foodcalling this method “populist” by handing out money and risking wasted money, the minister assured that it had a positive impact.
“If they make good use of the bonus, there may be other farmers, but I can’t say that.”
