Over the past four months, the average monthly export rate of Ukrainian agricultural products has actually reached pre-war levels.
Despite the war, in terms of export indicators for Ukraine, 2022 was one of the best years in recent years. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
“Thanks to the joint activities of farmers, traders, international partners and the work of the “grain corridor”, Ukraine was able to export more than 50 million tons of grains and oilseeds and their processed products in 2022,” the press service wrote.
This was reportedly a high result given the war.
“Ukraine remains one of the main players in the international agricultural market, and the state of production and prospects for the export of agricultural products from Ukraine clearly affects international prices. Now they remain high, including due to the continuation of the war, so the prospects for their reduction are still not visible,” – said First Deputy Minister Sergei Vysotsky.
It was also reported that over the past four months, the average monthly rate of agricultural exports in Ukraine has actually reached pre-war levels.
At the same time, the decrease in the area under winter crops is significant. In addition to battles, it was also affected by weather conditions.
The main challenge for farmers today is the spring sowing season. The expert believes that it is necessary to find sufficient funds to purchase seeds, fuel, mineral fertilizers and plant protection products.
“In the spring, farmers are ready to pay as much as possible for these unsown areas. Although, we understand that the sown areas will be at least 20% less than in 2021,” Vysotsky emphasized.
Earlier it was reported that the UN bought 60,000 tons of Ukrainian grain for Ethiopia – Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
