The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) announced that the government will provide connection at least S/800 for drought-affected farmers.
The head of Midagri, Nelli Paredes, said that this subsidy will be given due to the lack of rain in the southern zone and in the northern highlands of the country.
“Having discovered a serious problem that drought brought, my portfolio, in coordination with the Department of Economy, Justice and PCM, we began work on an emergency decree to provide a bonus to farmers and alpacero ranchers affected by severe water shortages,” he told RPP.
To provide this bond, the State will provide a budget of approximately S$390 million to all beneficiaries.
“We are talking about S / 800 per affected hectare with a limit on farmer of SGD 3,200 and SGD 266 for alpaca, with a limit of 12 alpacas,” he announced.
The Minister of Agriculture did not specify the date when the payment will begin, but indicated that it is expected this week.
“We hope that this week, as the president indicated, an appropriate emergency decree will be issued, I do not have an exact date, since the publication of the norm has not been given,” he commented.
Paredes also assured that the list beneficiaries this subsidy, which added 1,400 registered farmers and ranchers to those registered.
On the other hand, the head of Midagri noted that the previous bonus announced for farmers, “Fertiabono”, is already 90% delivered to the beneficiaries.
