USA violates international trade rules by stamping “Made in China” on goods imported from Hong Kongthe measure taken by the former Trump administration, the newspaper reported on Wednesday. World Trade Organization (WTO).
According to the body regulating disputes within WTO –where Hong Kong and China — two different members — US measures are inconsistent with the 1994 General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), especially since Washington “has not demonstrated that the situation at hand constitutes a serious case of international tension.”

July 14, 2020 then President USADonald Trump announced the end of the preferential treatment agreed by Washington Hong Kongafter imposition China controversial national security law to this semi-autonomous territory.
A month later, US Customs announced that imported goods from Hong Kong must have the words “manufactured in China”to be able to sell USA.
According to the regulator’s findings, there is “a difference in treatment as a result of USA it is required that the products hong Kong (…) have an origin mark indicating another member’s name WTO (China), although products from any third country must be labeled with the name of that third country and not with the name of another member WTO”.
According to the regulator, this difference in circulation “changed the conditions of competition” to the detriment of Hong Kong goods.
