Anatoly Antonov commented on the trip of the Ukrainian leader to Washington and the statements of American officials.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the United States showed that neither he nor the American leadership “want peace and are not ready for it.” This was announced on December 22 by Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov.
According to the diplomat, Zelensky’s trip to the United States proves that “conciliatory statements of the US administration about the lack of intention to enter into a confrontation with Russia are an empty phrase.”
Antonov argued that Ukraine and the United States “aim for the conflict, the death of the military and further tie the Ukrainian regime to the needs of Washington.”
“The theses appearing in the American media that Russia is not interested in achieving peace are false,” he stressed.
The Kremlin spokesman in Washington added that the “persuasive” actions of the US administration in Ukraine “continue to lead to an escalation, the consequences of which cannot be imagined.”
It will be recalled that on December 21, the Ukrainian leader flew to the United States, where he met with his American counterpart, Joe Biden, and also spoke to Congress.
During the talks, the US president assured continued support for Ukraine, and also announced a new military aid package, which includes the Patriot air defense system.
