Austrian authorities have decided to extend temporary protection for internally displaced persons from Ukraine, as well as the right to legally stay in the country until March 4, 2024. The corresponding resolution was adopted by the Austrian Council of Ministers on December 21, Wednesday , December 21, Ukrinform reports.
The document amends the decree of the federal government of Austria dated March 11, 2022, which defined the right of Ukrainians to live in the country.
“The temporary right of residence is valid until March 4, 2024,” the adopted document said.
The country’s Foreign Ministry said that today more than 90,000 migrants from Ukraine are registered in the country, of which 56,000 are on government support.
It should be noted that by the end of the year the total number of Ukrainian refugees in Switzerland may reach 75,000. In this regard, the Swiss army will provide the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) with additional places and personnel to receive Ukrainians.
