In two weeks, the Ukrainian military managed to shoot down 67 Shahed-136 drones, Yuriy Ignat said.
The previous day, Russia carried out the largest shelling in Ukraine of the Iranian Shahed-136 kamikaze drone. Yuriy Ignat, spokesman of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this at a briefing on Tuesday, December 20.
“Yesterday, as you know, was the day of St. Nicholas. The Rashists congratulated us on one of the biggest “Shahed” shelling: in number, I mean. 35 strike UAVs were fired on the territory of Ukraine, ” said Ignat.
According to him, statistically, the enemy has never released such a number of Shahed-136 at once. It also confirms the receipt of a new batch of Iranian drones – 250 pieces, as President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
“After a long pause, we have 67 downed UAVs of this type since December 7. These are only downed ones, obviously not all of them can be shot down,” Ignat added.
He also mentioned that the enemy is already using drones from other locations.
“At first it was Crimea and the Kherson region, now the launch points have been moved to the Krasnodar Territory (the eastern coast of the Sea of Azov) – from there the Shaheeds flew to our territory,” the Air Force Command said speaker
As reported, on the night of December 19, Russian troops attacked Ukraine using Iranian-made kamikaze drones Shahed-136/131. Some infrastructure facilities were damaged, including in Kyiv. At the same time, most of the drones were shot down.
