Experts draw attention to the fact that Putin and Lukashenko avoided public discussion of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, focusing on the Western threat to Belarus.

The American Institute for the Study of War believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin at the meeting failed to influence the self-proclaimed leader of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and force him to enter the war in Ukraine.

“ISW continues to assess that the participation of Belarus in Putin’s war against Ukraine remains unlikely. The fact that Putin seems to have accepted Lukashenka’s theses without convincing Lukashenka to indirectly correct them proves in this assessment,” wrote the institute’s analysts.

Experts also draw attention to the fact that Putin and Lukashenko avoided public discussion of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, focusing on the Western threat to Belarus.

Recall that on Monday the Kremlin announced two main topics that Putin and Lukashenka will discuss.

In addition, it is known that the formal leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, met Putin with a bouquet and a loaf of bread during the latter’s visit to Minsk.

Ukrainian intelligence and the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council reported what Putin might do in Minsk.
