There are two options for the development of events in Russia, when the current leader of the Kremlin may lose his power.
Former Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov believes that Vladimir Putin will lose power within the next year and a half at the most. This was announced on Thursday, December 15, by BILD in connection with Kasyanov.
“Putin will be able to hold the presidency until March 2024, when elections will be held in the Russian Federation. However, there is another option, when Putin resigns in six months,” he said.
According to the former head of the Russian government, Putin may leave his post before the end of the presidential term. This could happen if Russia loses the war against Ukraine.
“Then his post will be occupied by the prime minister of the Russian Federation, who, according to the law, is obliged to hold an extraordinary presidential election within three months,” explained Kasyanov.
At the same time, he does not rule out that in this case, Putin will appoint the person “necessary” to him to the post of prime minister in advance.
Putin could also be ousted after completing his presidential term in 2024.
“It will definitely happen, because the current regime in the Russian Federation has been destroyed from the inside. The regime is spreading. People dream – the whole vertical, especially Moscow, federal vertical – they dream of spreading everything as speed as possible, and they scattered in the corners, sheltering from possible revenge on each of them. Therefore, the fate of the regime was decided in advance – it is a matter of time: it will be in six months, a year or a year and a half,” said Kasyanov.
Remember, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council explained why Putin refused the last press conference.
