Expanded training will allow American instructors to train one Ukrainian battalion per month – from 600 to 800 troops.
The United States approved the expansion of Ukrainian military training at the American base in German Grafenwöhr. It is planned to increase the number of the military and update the tactics. The expanded training program will begin in early 2023. The New York Times reported this.
It was noted that the expanded training will allow American instructors to train a Ukrainian battalion every month – from 600 to 800 military personnel. Currently, the Americans train an average of 300 military personnel per month.
American instructors will train large groups of Ukrainian soldiers in more advanced combat tactics, including “collective drills” such as coordinating ground infantry maneuvers with artillery support.
At the same time, according to the publication, Ukrainian officials are afraid to withdraw too many troops from the front line for special training. However, since it slowed down the pace of fighting in many areas, the Ukrainian side approved the expansion of the program.
It was previously reported that the Canadian military began training Ukrainian sappers in Poland.
Recall that the training of the first group of Ukrainian military personnel was completed in Britain.
