Power engineers are trying to make additional concrete structures for protection, stronger than blocks.
In electrical substations, additional means of protection against Russian hits are being installed. The Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine (2019-2020) Oleksiy Orzhel spoke about this on the air of the Kyiv TV channel, reports Big Kyiv.
“There are pictures – some substations are protected, even if they are separated by reinforced concrete foundation blocks. And when a transformer hits, the equipment nearby is not destroyed,” said Orzhel.
Now power engineers are trying to make additional concrete structures for protection, stronger than blocks.
“They don’t always stand up, but they started to do it. In some substations, they realized in the summer that if we don’t defeat the enemy before winter, the Russians will hit the infrastructure facilities. The Russians know our system, and we know them, it happened in history. to make a blackout every week, depending on the resource for missiles. If not because of our air defense, it is possible for them, “the expert notes.
Considering that the Russians want to harm the inhabitants of Ukraine during the lowest temperatures, protecting the infrastructure is very important right now, added the former profile minister.
“We are talking with terrorists, so they have plans for the worst case. And they want to attack during frosts of minus 11 degrees. However, they were triggered by the Crimean bridge, they cannot wait for this time and started earlier – when it was plus 14 outside. And this prepared us psychologically, because of the severe frost, the stress from the loss of electrical carriers will be greater, it will be it is more difficult for the whole system to prepare. And the fact that the enemy started earlier is good for Ukraine,” said Orzhel.
Earlier it was reported that Kyiv lacks more than a third of electricity consumption. Of the available electricity in the capital, about 40% goes to critical infrastructure.
