Without the help of outside countries, Russia will run out of shells at the beginning of 2023. Today the Russian Federation uses ammunition 40 years ago.
The Russian military uses 40-year-old ammunition. At this rate, the Russian Federation could be left without ammunition until January. This was said by a representative of the US Department of Defense, reports on Monday, December 12, Reuters.
“They have removed ammunition from obsolete stocks, indicating that they are ready to use these old munitions, some of which were manufactured more than 40 years ago,” a Pentagon spokesman said.
According to him, this happened because of the high intensity of artillery use in Ukraine. These projectiles have a high failure rate.
The Pentagon estimated that without help from Iran and the DPRK, the invaders would not have ammunition until the beginning of 2023.
“We are evaluating this because of the intensity of fire with which Russia is using its artillery and rocket munitions at the angle of what we call fully appropriate artillery and rocket munitions,” the official added.
It is noted that the military of the Russian Federation, when they load such shells, are forced to take certain risks. We are talking about the fact that they cannot fire from a cannon and not explode at their destination.
Recall that the Pentagon recently noted that the Russian Federation is building its nuclear arsenal. Experts estimate that Russia has the largest stockpile of nuclear weapons in the world, with around 6,000 warheads.
