The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky issued a decree on sanctions against UOC-MP figures. The list includes seven people. It was reported on Sunday, December 11, on the President’s website.
Thus, Zelensky, by his order, implemented the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on December 11 “On the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)”.
New penalties are applied to such persons:

Metropolitan of Lugansk and Alchevsk UOC-MP Vasily Povoroznyuk;

rector of Melitopol St. Savinsky Monastery of UOC-MP Alexander Prokopenko;

rector of the Holy Assumption Cathedral of the UOC-MP in Kherson Alexander Fedorov;

Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary of the UOC-MP, manager of affairs of the UOC-MP, member of the Inter-Council Presence of the Russian Orthodox Church Ivan Pakanich (from UP: Metropolitan Anthony is considered the informal leader of the pro-Russian wing of the UOC-MP);

Metropolitan of Chernivtsi and Bukovina Meletiy of UOC-MP, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of UOC-MP Valentin Egorenko;

Sanctions provide for a restriction of economic activity in Ukraine: blocking of assets, prevention of capital withdrawal from Ukraine, revocation of licenses, ban on privatization, lease of property- state property, removal of all state awards, prohibition of acquisition of land plots and so on. .
“We are doing everything to ensure that the aggressor state does not have a single thread that Ukrainian society can pull,” the president explained in his video message.
As you know, in recent years, SBU officers have regularly searched UOC-MP’s objects. On December 9, searches were reported in Kyiv and Kherson regions. There they found suspicious people, unregistered weapons and Russian chaos.
