Explosions and shootings rang out in the Serbian region of Kosovo against the background of the escalation. The police blocked the road.
In the north of partially recognized Kosovo, two explosions rang out in Zvecan, located a few kilometers from the city of Kosovska Mitrovica, and later, near the blocked checkpoint of Yarine, they heard the sounds of shooting. This was announced on Saturday evening, December 10, by the Serbian TV channel B92.
It was noted that on the night of December 10, shooting was heard near the Yarine checkpoint in the region of Zubin Potok, in the village of Stuoche – also in the north of the partially recognized state – and it lasted for about fifteen minutes.
There were also two explosions in the settlement. Zvecan was reported by the correspondent of Vecherche Novosti while in the area.
Law enforcement officers blocked the road in two places leading to the administrative intersection of Yarina. In addition, the police blocked entry from Serbia through the Brnjak checkpoint, located in the northern part of Kosovo. Law enforcement officials say the move was made as part of security measures.
The police also said that they were shot in several places near the lake on the Serbian border, on the Dzing road in the direction of the Brnjak border checkpoint. It was learned that law enforcement units opened fire on “people of certain criminal groups who blocked some roads in the north of the country.”
“Police self-defense units were forced to respond with guns to the criminals, who were thrown back and fled in an unknown direction,” police said in a statement.
There is no official data on the wounded or wounded as a result of the shooting.
Recall that two days before, Kosovo’s special forces entered the Serbian region. Two hundred fighters in armored vehicles blockaded the entire municipality. And on Saturday, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said he would send a request to the commander of NATO forces to deploy his police and military personnel to Kosovo.
