In Dresden, a man suspected of killing his mother and taking hostages died of his wounds. On Saturday, December 10, AP reports.
At first, law enforcement officials reported that they had made contact with the suspect, and shortly after noon they announced that he had died.
“The suspect died in the police operation. A 40-year-old man was injured when the hostages were freed,” Dresden police tweeted.
Law enforcement noted that the hostages were “outwardly unharmed.”
The 40-year-old German is suspected of killing his 62-year-old mother. Police found the woman dead in another part of town early Saturday morning.
Radio Dresden reported that the man tried to enter the building where the broadcasting company is based, near the city’s main train station. He allegedly fired several shots before attempting to flee.
