Cooperation between Moscow and Iran in the military field has become a “full defense partnership” that will only grow, the White House confirmed.
Military cooperation between Russia and Iran is no longer just about the war in Ukraine, but about global security. So the world must respond, wrote in Twitter Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President Mikhail Podolyak on Saturday, December 10.
“The axis of evil has been formed. Iran plans to supply Russia with hundreds of ballistic missiles, knowing they are being used for a war in Europe. Russia is helping Iran with military technology (nuclear?) to fire the Middle East. This is no longer a Ukrainian issue. This is a global security issue. Let us quietly observe?” Podoliak wrote.
It should be noted that the previous day, the White House expressed concern over the support provided by Iran for Russia, the Voice of America reports. US National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said military cooperation between Moscow and Iran has become a “full-fledged defense partnership” that will grow in the coming months.
“We expect that Iran’s support for the Russian army will only grow in the coming months. We still believe that Iran is considering the sale of hundreds of ballistic missiles from Iran to Russia. We have also seen reports that Moscow and Tehran are considering establishing a joint production line of lethal drones in Russia. We urge Iran to change course and not use these actions,” Kirby said.
He emphasized that Russia, in turn, is offering Iran “an unprecedented level of military and technical support,” including weapons development and military training.
“As part of this cooperation, we are concerned that Russia intends to provide Iran with advanced military components. Moscow may provide Tehran with equipment such as helicopters and air defense systems. There are reports that Iranian pilots trained in Russia this spring to learn how to fly the Su-35. This indicates that Iran may begin receiving the aircraft within the next year. These fighters are significant will strengthen Iran’s air force compared to their regional neighbors,” Kirby explained.
According to him, the United States considers the Russian-Iranian partnership a threat “not only to Ukraine, but also to Iran’s neighbors in the region.”
“We have shared this information with Middle East partners around the world and will use every tool at our disposal to expose and disrupt this activity,” Kirby said.
Earlier this week, media reported that Russia has re-ordered hundreds of kamikaze drones and ballistic missiles from Iran.
And now Russia has hit Iranian drones in the south of Ukraine. Odessa and the entire region were left without electricity.
