Operators are working on creating a reserve that will allow communication at critical points.
In the event of a critical power outage, a reserve will operate, allowing three days to provide communication to the country. This was announced on Wednesday, December 7, at a telethon by the head of the State Special Communications Service, Yuri Shchegol.
He said that 82% of base communication stations are currently operating in Ukraine, with the exception of Luhansk and Kherson regions, where capacities are being restored after the last missile strike.
“Actually, the problem is that it is impossible to put a generator under each base station. When the light goes out, all Wi-Fi networks, which are also not working, go to the base station and where there is a reservation for two hours, it works for half an hour”, – explained Shchegol.
He added that operators are now working on creating a reserve that will allow communication at critical points for at least three days.
“Today, this work is carried out by the national control center, the national regulator, all regulators, providers, networks are brought to the points of incompetence. Each point of incompetence must be provided with communications for at least three days, and we are now doing this work with operators every day,” – said the head of the State Special Communications Service.
Earlier, the National Bank of Ukraine updated the list of branches of state and commercial banks that will continue to work even with long-term power outages.
