K2 tanks and K9 howitzers will reach the northeastern part of Poland within days, the Ministry of Defense said.
Poland received the first batch of armored vehicles from South Korea – 10 K2 Black Panther tanks and 24 K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers. This is what the PAP agency reported on Tuesday, December 6.
The equipment was unloaded at the port of Gdynia the night before. And today, the ceremony of receiving the armament was held, in which the President of the country Andrzej Duda and Minister of Defense Mariusz Blaszczak took part.
“We are always strengthening the Polish Army. We know very well that in our time, when there is a war, when Russia is trying to restore its empire, it is the well-equipped Polish army that best stops the aggressor. ,” said Blaschak said.
He assured that K2 tanks and K9 howitzers would reach the north-eastern part of Poland within a few days. And next year, new batches of armored vehicles and multiple launching rocket systems K239 CHUNMOO will arrive in Poland.
“We want peace, so we are preparing for war,” the minister said.
As you know, this year Poland and South Korea signed agreements on the supply of hundreds of armored vehicles and FA-50 aircraft. We are talking about multi-billion dollar contracts. In the first phase alone, Poland will receive 180 K2 tanks and 212 K9 Thunder self-propelled guns. From 2026, this armored vehicle will be produced in Poland.
