The businessman emphasizes that he believes in the success of the Ukrainian army on the battlefield, and any negotiations with Russia are possible only after its troops leave Ukrainian territory.
Businessman Rinat Akhmetov said he will stay in Ukraine until the final victory over Russia and will do everything to help the Ukrainian army.
“I am in Ukraine and will be in Ukraine until our victory,” he said in an interview with the Swiss publication Bilan.
He emphasized that he believes in the victory of the Ukrainian army on the battlefield, and that any negotiations with Russia are possible only after its troops leave Ukrainian territory.
“There can be only one result of this war – it is the victory of Ukraine and the victory of the whole free world. I don’t know when it will happen, but I am convinced that it will happen. And I live it every day,” he added .
The war launched by Russia against Ukraine, he called “abhorrent, merciless, bloody and terrible, the likes of which the world has not seen since the Second World War.”
The businessman also focused on the fact that all enterprises of the SCM group “are now working for the success of Ukraine, including in the economic sphere.”
“If possible, we work for the needs of the front – we help the Ukrainian army and the defense forces. Our metallurgical plants produce anti-tank hedgehogs, modular shelters for dugouts, have already us and donated 150,000 bulletproof vests to our soldiers for free. Our electrical engineers heroically restore light every day to homes without electricity due to constant shelling. We all work for to Ukraine’s success, including in the economic sphere,” Akhmetov said.
According to him, the Ukrainian economic situation is very difficult because of the war, but businesses continue to operate, maintaining jobs and budget revenues.
“For us, SCM, the war started in 2014. We lost all our properties both in Crimea and in the temporarily occupied part of Donbass. We lost businesses, but it hardened us and strengthened the us. We have a very strong team, where managers think not only of business, but also of people. Now all our businesses have moved to work in a military regime. Because now our main goal will help Ukrainians to live and survive,” he added.
Recall, earlier it was reported that Akhmetov arrived in Kyiv on February 23. Since then, according to his press service, he has been in Ukraine. In May 2022, he topped the rating of entrepreneurs helping Ukraine.
During 9 months of the year, his SCM group paid UAH 60 billion of taxes and fees to the budget.
