The attacker tore the banner from the flagpole near the main entrance to the Olshansky Starostat, law enforcement officials said.
The police detained a 34-year-old resident of the village of Olshany, Kharkiv region. The suspect committed a public desecration of the Ukrainian national flag. This was reported by the communication department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region on Wednesday, November 30.
“The woman defiantly tore the state symbol, which was placed on the flagpole on the wall of the Olshansky headman building at the main entrance, tore it and threw it on the ground,” law enforcement officials said.
Law enforcement officers inform the malefactor of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 338 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – desecration of state symbols.
The women now face up to three years in prison.
