North Korea has never fired as many missiles as it did in 2022. More than 75 have already been launched, including 23 on November 2 alone. More worryingly, Kim Jong Un’s country launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on Friday, November 18, capable of hitting the United States. Believed to have been used by the North Koreans “flat trajectory”, in order to avoid flying over neighboring countries. That “monster” missile, therefore, fell in Japan’s exclusive economic zone, about 200 km from its coast. The rise in tensions has fueled fears in the United States and South Korea that Pyongyang could soon conduct its seventh nuclear test, its first since 2017. These military capabilities are raising questions as the country’s economic woes have worsened since the Covid-19 pandemic.
