While the Germans looted world museums during World War II, the Russians are doing the same today, the Minister of Culture of Ukraine noted.

The Russian occupiers stole the archival and cultural funds of the Mariupol museums. This was announced on Tuesday, April 26, by Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko in the Telegram, citing Petr Andryushchenko, Adviser to the Mayor of Mariupol.

“The rashists are stealing the archival and cultural funds of the Mariupol museums. Unacceptable behavior on the part of the Russian army continues. While the Germans have looted the world’s museums at the time of World War II, as well as the Russians today, ”Tkachenko wrote.

According to him, there is information that the exhibits will be taken to Donetsk for examination, and then to Russia.

“We hope that this will not happen. In any case, we will send everyone back to Ukraine, where it has its due place. But for such cultural crimes, Russia is increasing its sentence,” Tkachenko said.

Recall that in March, during the battle of Mariupol, the occupiers destroyed the building of the Art Museum named Arkhip Kuindzhi, where the originals of the paintings of famous artists – Ivan Aivazovsky, Nikolai Glushchenko, Tatyana Yablonskaya and others.
