Four Syrian soldiers were killed on Saturday, November 19, as a result of Israeli strikes in the central part of Syria, a military source reported, citing the official Sana agency. This is the second series of strikes attributed to the Jewish state in less than a week. “At around 06:30 local time, the Israeli enemy carried out an air attackin the central and coastal regions of Syria, killing four soldiers and wounding one and causing property damage.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH) also spoke of Israeli strikes on the central provinces of Homs and Hama, which it said had caused the destruction of weapons and ammunition. This UK-based NGO, which has a wide network of sources in the country, targeted websites linked to pro-Iranian groups. Israel also struck air force positions in the coastal province of Latakia, the OSDH said.
On November 13, Israeli strikes have already targeted Homs province, including the Al-Chayrat air base, killing two soldiers, according to Syrian state media. Israel has launched hundreds of strikes against its northern neighbor since Syria’s civil war began in 2011, targeting Syrian government forces as well as their Iran-backed allies or fighters from the Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah movement.
If Israel rarely comments on the attacks carried out in Syria, several times it has justified them with the need to prevent Iran from establishing itself near its borders.
