The Armed Forces of Ukraine received Brimstone 2 guided missiles from the UK. The upgraded version of this weapon has a range of up to 60 km.

The missiles were received as part of military assistance. Previously, only first-generation Brimstone deliveries were known. The news was published by the analytical project Ukraine Weapons Tracker, which posted on Twitter a photo of the shipment of military equipment to Ukraine. Behind them, the specialists of the “Military” concluded that the British brought for the Armed Forces of Ukraine not only Brimstone 1 missiles, but also modern Brimstone 2 Dual Mode missiles.

Brimstone is a family of air-to-ground guided missiles. Since February 24, the UK has already delivered hundreds of these missiles to Ukraine. They were modified in the Armed Forces of Ukraine to be launched from ground launchers for use on ground targets.

Brimstone-1 is capable of penetrating dynamic armor, while the weight of the rocket is 50 kg. The guidance system uses millimeter wave radar and a semi-active laser. The maximum range of the first generation missile is 20 km.

#Ukraine: It is now known that the UK will not be able to keep the Brimstone 1, but rather the modern Brimstone 2 Two way missiles to the AFU.

In 2010, the Brimstone missile system was upgraded. The new missile received an improved homing head and updated software, as a result of which the missile received an increased flight range of up to 60 km.

For the first time, the use of British guided missiles by the Ukrainian army became known in May this year.

Despite the ability of the Brimstone missiles in the new version to strike at a distance of up to 60 km, the actual range of a missile launch from the ground is reduced to 10-12 km due to the high energy consumption of the missile to climb.
