With the help of attack drones, Ukraine will be able to attack Russian warships and change the strategic course of the war.
A bipartisan group of US senators has called on President Joe Biden to give Ukraine advanced MQ-1C strike drones, known as the Gray Eagle, because the technology will help the UAF maintain momentum on the battlefield. This was said by members of Congress in an official letter, quoted on Tuesday by The Wall Street Journal.
“Providing Ukraine with the MQ-1C would provide a significant long-term advantage and the potential to turn the strategic course of the war in Ukraine’s favor,” the senators said in a statement.
They also drew attention to the fact that the operational characteristics of the Gray Eagle UAV, as well as the lethality of the strikes and the safety of these drones, “complement the existing weapons systems used by the Ukrainians ,” and also increases the effectiveness of the UAF strike.
The senators noted that Ukrainian military training to conduct combat operations with the MQ-1C will last 27 days. And if Ukraine had its own drones, it would “find and attack Russian warships in the Black Sea, breaking the forced blockade and easing the twin pressures on Ukraine’s economy and world food prices.”
Earlier, US authorities refused to provide Ukraine with Gray Eagle MQ-1C reconnaissance and strike drones. However, the media later reported that the administration and the US military leadership are examining the possibility of transferring modified modern Gray Eagle drones to Ukraine, where sensitive technologies and components will be removed.
