National multi-subject testing (NMT) in 2023 may become an alternative to external independent assessment (EIA).
The Ministry of Education and Science, in the course of planning the entrance campaign next year, draws attention to the fact that UPE “has been and will be a mechanism for transparent admission to higher education,” but it is impossible to conduct it in war conditions. That is why the issue of conducting NMT is being considered. This was announced on November 22 by the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhiy Shkarlet in Telegram.
According to him, the test tasks for the next year will be compiled according to the programs of the EIT in the relevant subjects. The multitest will include mandatory and optional blocks. The obligatory block will consist of the Ukrainian language, mathematics, the history of Ukraine and a foreign language (English, French, German and Spanish will be offered at the choice of applicants).
Participants will complete tasks in the Ukrainian language and mathematics for 90 minutes, and after a short break, another 90 minutes will work on tasks in the history of Ukraine and a foreign language.
On a separate day, applicants will be able to compose an additional NMT block in physics, chemistry or biology, the result of which can replace an assessment in the history of Ukraine or a foreign language. Testing for additional subjects will take 75 minutes.
Scarlett noted that registration for the National Multisubject Testing may begin in April, namely testing in June-July.
The Minister added that it is possible to change the format of the entrance examinations only after the adoption of the relevant law in the Verkhovna Rada.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education noted that the State Final Attestation of students who complete their full general secondary education this academic year will be carried out in the form of a UPE.
