The NATO Parliamentary Assembly has called for the creation of a special International Tribunal to punish Russian criminals.
The NATO Parliamentary Assembly, taking place in Madrid, called for the creation of a special International Tribunal to punish Russian criminals and recognized the Russian Federation as a terrorist state. This was announced by the head of the permanent delegation of Ukraine to NATO PA Yegor Chernev.
“All 30 NATO countries supported the proposals of our delegation. Such a tribunal will allow us to judge not only the direct perpetrators of war crimes, but also the highest leadership of the Russian Federation. The resolution will be sent to the governments and parliaments of all NATO member countries,” Chernev said.
According to Chernev, the resolution contains several important decisions for Ukraine: increasing the supply of arms to Ukraine; development of specific measures for Ukraine’s accession to NATO; creation of a mechanism for collecting reparations from the Russian Federation for damage caused to Ukraine.
Chernev also emphasized that the resolution contains the principle that NATO will support Ukraine as long as necessary.
“The adoption of this resolution is an important political step that reflects the mood in Western parliamentary circles, and therefore affects the leadership of decision-making countries,” explained the head of Ukraine’s permanent delegation to NATO PA.
Chernev said that the Ukrainian position regarding the creation of a tribunal, the payment of reparations and the recognition of Russia as a terrorist state is gradually gaining support at the highest international platform.
“For crimes against humanity, war crimes with no statute of limitations and for the crime of aggression, punishment is inevitable. We will definitely achieve it,” Chernev assured.
It was previously reported that NATO’s priority after the incident with the downing of a rocket in Poland remains the provision of air defense systems to Ukraine.
