The Special Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia denied information about the possible poisoning of the imprisoned former president, a citizen of Ukraine, Mikheil Saakashvili. This was stated in a statement issued on November 20, according to the News-Georgia portal.
“Prisoner Saakashvili has been in the hospital for several months under constant medical supervision and is receiving the necessary medical assistance.
The day before, Saakashvili’s mother, Giuli Alasania, told reporters that her son had an increased content of heavy metals in the body: mercury, barium and waist. He noted that the isolated person cannot swallow these substances and demanded the immediate release of Saakashvili.
According to the politician’s lawyer Shalva Khachapuridze, independent doctors from the Georgian center Empathy revealed more than 30 diseases in Saakashvili. Their conclusion “will be made public in the near future.”
Recall that Saakashvili secretly arrived in Georgia on September 29 last year and was detained in Tbilisi on October 1, after which he was placed in a prison in the city of Rustavi, where he went on a hunger strike.
On November 8, he was transferred from a prison in the city of Rustavi to a prison hospital in Tbilisi, then to a military hospital in the city of Gori, where he ended his hunger strike.
On May 12 of this year, Saakashvili was placed in a civilian clinic. Vivamed in Tbilisi, where he currently resides.
