The head of the German government expressed hope that the choice against populism would remain possible.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz hopes that Donald Trump will not be re-elected as US president in 2024, Reuters reports.
Scholz said he was not impressed with Trump’s nomination for the presidency of the United States. Especially after the Republicans’ inconclusive results in the midterm congressional elections.
“Now it can be hoped that, as in previous elections, the choice against populism will remain possible,” added Scholz.
He also noted that the current US President Joe Biden is a smart and experienced politician who strengthens the transatlantic alliance and values the relationship between Europe and the US.
Remember that on November 16, Trump announced that he is running for President of the United States from the Republican Party in the 2024 election.
Commenting on this, the current American leader, Joe Biden, who also intends to participate in the new presidential race, said that his predecessor “let America down.”
