The Ukrainian side offered Russia a public way of negotiations, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Ukrainian authorities have received signals from Western partners about the desire of Russian President Vladimir Putin to conduct direct negotiations. The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said this in a conversation with journalists on Wednesday, November 16.
“I received signals. That Putin wants direct negotiations. I received such signals. I proposed a public form, because Russia is conducting a public war,” he said.
Zelensky also confirmed a meeting with CIA director William Burns on Tuesday.
“Yesterday, Burns sat in a bomb shelter. And then we talked with him. We discussed all the issues that are important to us. We know each other. He is on the side of Ukraine,” said of the head of state.
As you know, Ukraine will not negotiate with the current Russian leadership. Zelensky believes that Putin is not enough.
Recall that on October 4, the President of Ukraine signed a decree excluding negotiations with Putin, but negotiations with Russia are possible.
Earlier, the Kremlin said they were ready to negotiate with various countries about the war, but Ukraine itself refused to talk.
