Peter Szijjarto said that his country will not only not participate in the exercise, but also will not finance the EU mission.
Hungary has refused to train the Ukrainian military as part of the EU mission. He will not fund this training mission either. This is what Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on the air of one of the local TV channels on Monday, November 14.
“We do not participate in the training of Ukrainian military personnel and do not contribute any financial resources to this mission,” he stressed.
The Hungarian official said his country is calling on Ukraine and Russia to “settle the war diplomatically” through negotiations.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister added that Budapest abstained during the voting on the decision on the training mission for the Ukrainian forces.
The training mission is designed for two years, and the EU must allocate 106.7 million euros for training.
Training of Ukrainian military personnel is planned to be held in Poland and Germany.
It should be noted that earlier Hungary, according to media reports, blocked an aid package to Ukraine from the EU for 18 billion euros.
Recall that in early November, a rally was held in Budapest against the media controlled by Viktor Orban’s government and against the Hungarian policy, which continues to support the Russian Federation in the war in Ukraine.
