Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Russia was not in a position to dictate terms.
The spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, Oleg Nikolenko, responded to the statements of Russia, which “does not accept the previous conditions in Ukraine,” in particular, the request to withdraw troops.
“Russia is not in a position to dictate its terms. Ukraine’s peace formula remains unchanged: an immediate end to the war, the withdrawal of all Russian troops, the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, compensation for the damage caused and the provision of effective guarantees that aggression will not be repeated. In other conditions, it is impossible to achieve sustainable peace,” he said.
Recall that the previous Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Alexander Grushko, said that Russia “does not accept the preconditions for starting negotiations with Ukraine,” including the need for the withdrawal of Russian troops.
Note that in recent months, the Russians have increasingly demanded negotiations. Especially the requests became more frequent after failures in the south direction.
