Switzerland’s neutrality was put to the test by the war in Ukraine

Sometimes criticized, often mocked, the famous Swiss neutrality reveals all its complexity in light of the war in Ukraine. In early November, the Swiss Confederation banned Germany for the second time since April from sending Swiss-made munitions to Ukraine for German Gepard anti-aircraft tanks, which are of vital importance to Kiev. In the name of the Neutrality Act and Swiss legislation on war materials, Economy Minister Guy Parmelin considered that he “There is still no reason to respond positively to Germany’s request“.
